  • Bell Material: Brass
  • Instrument: Flugelhorn
  • Body Material: Brass
  • Experience Level: Expert
  • Leadpipe Material: Brass
  • Key: Bb

  • Condition: The silver plating is in very good-excellent condition... has a brilliant shine. Very few scratches although there are imperfections here and there, signs of previous dent removal, and a very reachable dent beneath the bell crook at the back of the horn. (Visible in the photo with valves removed) None of these imperfections affect the playability of this Flugelhorn in my opinion. The valves are smooth, quick and reliable. I've never noticed any sluggishness or sticking.I'm offering this Bach Stradivaius 183S at about 1/2 the cost of a new one.

    Description

This silver plated Strad #339583 was manufactured in 1991-1992 based on information I found on the Bach website.
It's a beautiful horn which plays well and easily. I love its accuracy and reliable slot-ability using any articulation.
You reach for a note and it takes you there.
I've found it to be trustworthy and quite amazing. For me it is easier to play than my trumpets. It takes very little effort. I've owned it for several years and will miss it. We'll be going sailing for a couple of years while we're still able to... so it's time for a new player.
I just carefully washed it inside and out, polished it and lubricated its moving parts with the appropriate oils/greases.
All of the slides and the trigger work smoothly.
Included: A silver plated Bach 6B FL mouthpiece, a new bottle of Yamaha synth. valve oil, a brand new Protec Explorer Flugelhorn Bag (with sheet music/book pocket (less than a month old) with shoulder and backpack straps, and an excellent K&M folding floor stand. It's a fairly complete package, perfect for a pro or a move up player yearning for a Bach who doesn't want to pay for new.
This horn is being sold in "used" condition. It shows signs of wear and use. In its years with me it has been well cared for.
    Cosmetically it's a 7.5 - 8. Functionally (since it's not new) it's a 9.
